This edition presents a new perspective on Cervantes<\/span><\/a> as a dramatist, and incorporates features that will be of interest to academics, theatre practitioners and translators alike.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
It is the result of AHRC<\/span><\/a>-funded collaborative research carried out at King\u2019s College London<\/span><\/a>, within the Out of the Wings<\/span><\/a> project, by John O\u2019Neill<\/span><\/a> of the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and a team from the Department of Digital Humanities led by Paul Spence<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/div>\n

It presents four versions of the Spanish text that allow different views of the punctuation and spelling (facsimile<\/span><\/a>, modern spelling transcription<\/span><\/a>, ed. O\u2019Neill<\/span><\/a> and unpunctuated<\/span><\/a>), together with an English translation<\/span><\/a>, by John O\u2019Neill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With performance in mind, the verse is presented in a way that clearly displays the poetic form, while the Performance Information<\/span><\/a> and Track Character<\/span><\/a> menus provide useful information about what is happening on stage.<\/span><\/div>\n

Various indices (names<\/span><\/a>, places<\/span><\/a>, occupations<\/span><\/a>, specialist terminology<\/span><\/a>, sub-languages<\/span><\/a>, proverbs<\/span><\/a> and performance<\/span><\/a>) and a Google Map of places mentioned<\/span><\/a> help to contextualize the play.<\/span>
